ALL BREED JUDGE

I have had poodles since I was a youngster, but my first show dogs were, Corgis, German Shepherds and Rough Coated Collies. Since then we have owned, breed and shown numerous breeds to their championship status including all three varieties of poodles, standard and miniature schnauzers, whippets, greyhounds and Dobermans. We are currently showing our Australian Silky Terriers and share our home with our Kerry Blues, Dobermans and a Whippet.

I have been fortunate to have judged in a number of countries around the world and I have been secretary of the Kapi Mana Kennel Society for many years, as well as President of our local judge’s training group.

My career in dogs began in 1970 when I acquired my first Boxer. As I had asked for a show quality Boxer the breeder insisted I take him to at least one show. He won his class and we had our first “blue” ribbon. This was to influence the direction of my life for the next 38 years. I began judging in 1987 and I am now an International all breeds judge.

My International judging career has taken me to many parts of the world. I have had the privilege of judging in the following countries – England, Ireland, Canada, the USA, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Denmark, India, South Africa, New Zealand, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Russia, Japan and the Philippines.

Some of my more memorable and prestigious judging appointments include:

¡ÃÃÁ¡Òà : Mrs. Sue Sutherland (AUSTRALIA)

ALL- BREEDS JUDGE LICENSE

I was very fortunate to grow up in a family in Ireland who excelled in breeding thoroughbred horses and cattle. They were involved in a pack of Foxhounds and Beagles, as well as Bulldogs, Chow Chows, Elkhounds, Whippets, Pointers, Cocker Spaniels, Labrador Retrievers, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Curly Coated Retrievers, Norfolk Terriers and a countless number of Jack Russell Terriers.

In 1956 Pugs were registered in my name under the prefix “ BARONRATH”, the name of the stud on which I grew up . This prfix has been registered in Ireland, the United Kingdom, America, New Zealand and Australia. In my early teens, I started grading cattle with my later father as well as showing Aylesbury Ducks with some success. I eventually went to judge ponies and hunters.

In 1965 I had my first dog show judging assignment in the USA, where I still hold the record for a “Best In Show” black Pug bitch.

By 1971 Boston Terriers became my chosen breed here in Australia and have had the honour of winning “Best In Show” at the New Zealand Boston Terrier Specialty and also won “Runner-Up In Show” two years later. I am happy to report that this small kennel still has winners in the ring, including my beloved whippets who have also won Specialty Shows.

I am licensed as an All-Breeds judge, having had appointments in the USA, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Thailand , Philippines, South Africa, Hong Kong and throughout Australia.
